This lecture traces the main development directions of (Slavonic) linguistic theories, describes their relation to the history of linguistics in general and establishes its place in the history of ideas.

This lecture gives a survey over the history of Slavonic Studies, which describes the history of human sciences as history of ideas and methods and presents the most important scholars in the history of Slavonic Studies. Special attention will be paid to the relationship between Slavonic linguistics and other linguistic disciplines. Additionally, the relationship to other humanities will be described.
