The aim of this proseminar is to make students aware of American culture and develop their understanding of American cultural phenomena as well as their ability to express themselves on such topics correctly and with sufficient intercultural sensitivity both in English and German.
In this proseminar “ Looking at America: the Land and its People” we will look at America from from two sides: on the one hand, at the geographical-regional aspect , and on the other hand, at socio-cultural aspects of the different regions as far as they are representative of American culture in general.
Finding relevant information/material (of sufficient credibility); working comparatively/contrastively with American and German texts on the same topic; developing debating skills within the peer group; making a short effective presentation; writing a research paper;
Student presentations; research paper; final exam
Will be discussed in the first lesson.
