summer semester 2023 | Last update: 19.01.2024 | Place course on memo listAfter completing this module, students know and understand important methods of machine learning that allow software systems to independently adjust their parameters based on sample data and/or to continuously optimise their performance. They are able to formalise application problems for machine learning and to solve them using established methods.
Fundamentals in statistical methods. Suprevised learning: classification and regression. Unsupervised learning: clustering, density estimation, and dimensionality redection. Reinforcement learning.
The lecture covers theoretical material that the complementary proseminar exercises in discussions, written problems, and programming projects.

This course will take most material from Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning by Chris Bishop.
Additional material will be taken from other sources and will be provided to the students before the lecture.
