703326 VU Perception, Interaction and Robotics A: Advanced Machine Learning
summer semester 2025 | Last update: 02.03.2025 | Place course on memo listAdvanced understanding of current topics in perception, interaction and robotics; acquisition of the ability to independently educate themselves in the field.
How can we design learning software systems that adjust their parameters according to example data, continually optimize their own performance, and/or automatically adapt to changing contexts? This course conveys knowledge of advanced techniques and competences in the formulation and solution of problems of machine learning.
The VU conveys theoretical concepts that are solidified in exercises and programming projects. A few class sessions will feature student presentations on selected topics/papers in machine learning.
Programming projects; presentations; oral exam
Basic prior competences in machine learning (as taught in our Bachelor-level ML course 703075/703076) and in mathematics will be helpful.

Allocation of places in courses with a limited number of participants (PS, SE, VU, PJ)
In courses with a limited number of participants, course places are allocated as follows:
1. Students for whom the study duration would be extended due to the postponement are to be given priority.
2. If the criteria in no. 1 do not suffice, first, students for whom this course is part of a compulsory module are to be given priority, and second, students for whom this course is part of an elective module.
3. If the criteria in no. 1 and 2 do not suffice, the available places are drawn by random.
