After completion of this course, students will know about the latest developments in social psychological research (e.g., large replication projects, replication crisis, awareness about questionable research practices). They will be able to critically examine research findings in relation to these developments and to conduct exact replications.

We will discuss and critically reflect on recent findings and methodological developments in social psychology. This goes back to the cases of Diederik Stapel (a prominent case of data fraud in social psychology) and Daryl Bem (a social psychologist who managed to publish questionnable findings on precognition in one of the most prestigious journals of the field). Under the instructor's supervision, students then proceed to conduct exact replications (in groups) of social psychological studies.

Presentations by the instructor, presentations by students, group work, group discussion, empirical group work, written assignments

active participation and attendance, written assignment, empirical work, oral presentations
