Particular attention is given to spoken fluency, pronunciation, stress and intonation patterns, interactional strategies, and context-appropriate language use. The course aims to strengthen students’ confidence and effectiveness as users of English in both academic and professional settings.

This course focuses on the development of English listening and speaking skills at the C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Students develop their ability to understand increasingly complex spoken English in a range of everyday, educational, and academic contexts and to participate actively in discussions and communicative situations.

Exam structure 1. Each student will take turns drawing a poem that was prepared in class during the semester. They will then read the poem aloud for around a minute or until the poem has concluded. 2. Each student receives an individual prompt concerning the themes and topics that were featured within the poem and talks about the topic for 1-2 minutes as a monologue. 3. Steps 1 and 2 are repeated until each student has performed and discussed a poem. 4. As a group, the students are presented with a discussion prompt based on the topics discussed in class throughout the semester (for example, from podcasts assigned as homework, language topics, in-class discussions). 3-4 minutes of dialogue.
