Learning Outcome:

To heighten students' awareness of the lexical systems of English in everyday contexts and usage.

Contents:

Word formation: prefixes, suffixes, compounds, synonyms, antonyms, homophones. Topic based vocabulary. Borrowed words, lexical chunks, phrasal verbs, countable/ uncountable nouns, binomials, collocations, euphemisms, acronyms etc.

Methods:

Interactive, communicative, pragmatic approach to lexical usage by creating meaningful contexts in the course. Group work.

Assessment:

Final written exam. Exam date to be announced in the course.
