To activate C1+ level listening and speaking skills from CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) To promote understanding of more complex argumentative and specialised texts and an appreciation of nuances, including allusion, humour, word-play, etc. To foster the ability to communicate effectively in discussions and problem-solving tasks.

Listening: podcasts, web links, vlogs etc. Speaking: a variety of topics including contemporary issues and problems.

Interactive teacher-student approach, group work, class discussion, presentations (monologue, 'Dragon's Den', pitching products), listening journal, detailed descriptions/ interpretations of pictures/ cartoons (explaining humour, word play etc.).

Listening final exam. Oral final exam. Exam dates to be announced in the course.
