603054 Normative References for Educational Action determined by Difference
winter semester 2013/2014 | Last update: 14.09.2023 | Place course on memo listAssessing notions of religion, dialogue, and peace within Education Studies concerning Jewish-Christian-Muslim relations
In the course we will be discussing two key aspects: first, the relation between religion and values from an educational point of view; second, the ways of exchange between Islam, Judaism and Christianity, that does not negate divergences. With face-to-face encounters being a pre-condition for mutual understanding, the course will include visits, e.g., to the Bosnian Mosque and to the Synagogue in Innsbruck. Examples of successfully working Jewish-Christian-Muslim relations, as well as an insight into these three religions (especially Islam) will be given. Doing so, similarities as well as divergences will be found. Concepts of peaceful interaction and mutuality will be opposed to the scenario of the “clash of civilizations”. The approaches of the education sciences to memory culture / cultural memory and cross-cultural encounter will form the theoretical framework of this course.
Lecture, visual material (e.g. slides), excursions and guest speakers
