The aim is to get an overview of the development of Italian theatre from the end of the 15th until the beginning of the 19th century.

Besides dealing with the most important theatric authors, genres and plays, the course aims to highlight the development of forms of representation and staging, from the reconstructions of ancient theatre in humanist era until the birth of “modern” play houses and scenes.

In addition to the frontal presentation by the teacher, there is also the possibility for participants to make brief oral reports that will be granted on questions of the final exam.

Oral test lasting about half an hour at the end of the semester.

A bibliography with the most relevant works will be distributed at the beginning of the semester.
