640012 Excursion Ancient History and the Ancient Near East: Anatolia - Turkey

The excursion starts in the city of Ankara (Roman Baths, Monumentum Ancyranum, Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, some interesting examples of islamic and contemporary architecture). In addition we will visit important historical sites in the vicinity of Ankara, like Hattusa, the capital of the Hittites, the sanctuary of Yazılıkaya, as well as Gordion, the capital of the Phrygians with its citadell and necropolis.

Introductory literature will be named in the courses UE 640010 and the VO 640027.
Registration can be done in LFU:online and includes a deposit of Euro 150.- at the office of the Department of Ancient History and Ancient Near Eastern Studies between January 1st and February 15th 2014. There you will get further information about the programm and the costs.
