The course deals with the handling of Greek and Latin historiographical texts and other historical sources under the aspect of the relationships between petty kings and the Empire in the Roman Near East.

This class will focus on some important phenomena of the Roman Near East, particularly on the relationships between the "petty kings" and the Empire.

Lecture in combination with discussions, research- and reading exercises. 

Active participation and written examination at the end of the term

Will be discussed in the lessons.
