summer semester 2014 | Last update: 29.01.2014 | Place course on memo listExploring historical areas at the border of the (former) periphery of an (historical) territorial conglomerate: Silesia was part of the Habsburgian ruling areas since 1526, some parts got “lost” during the conflicts with Prussia as is known, after 1918 and 1945 the political powers changed again: What is today still there to find from this historical inheritance in these border and transition regions? What did the changing borders mean to the people living there, to their possibilities to develop and to their commemorative culture?
By attending this course students acquire a first orientation knowledge to some northern regions of the Habsburgian territorial conglomerate. The focus lies on the development of Silesia. Organisational preparation of the excursion (LV 645210), contentual introduction of the general topic of the excursion and preparation of the individual tasks of the participants.
Presentations of the course instructors, discussion of relevant literature, preparation of the presentations of the excursion, individual feedbacks.
Attendance at all sessions, continuous assessment, participation in discussions, presentations, written papers.
