602018 Aesthetics and Philosophy of Art: Philosophy of landscape and of landscape painting
summer semester 2015 | Last update: 12.03.2015 | Place course on memo listKnowledge of the cultural and philosophical origins of the landscape as a modern aesthetic phenomenon; the capacity to recognize and value the role of the landscape in the history of painting and to put it in relationship with the achievement of the modern subjectivity.
The seminar aims to approach the issue of landscape from an interdisciplinary perspective, named as ‘geo-philosophy’, and to determinate its esthetic invention at the beginning of modernity. The seminar will especially illustrate the role of landscape in modern painting through the explanation of significant pictures and emphasize the fundamental relationship between the artistic consideration of landscape and the achievement of the modern subjectivity.
