Learning Outcome:

Understanding literary historical contexts concerning the 'Goethe-Zeit', familiarity with important canonical texts.

Contents:

The lecture outlines the era concept of the 'Goethezeit' and covers selected works from this period in their historical context. In parallel, the self-study of literary history is expected. In the final exam then the familiarity and considered treatment of the texts of the reading list are detected.

Methods:

Literary-historical overview presentation and analysis of selected novel examples.
