Knowledge of processes of criticism in print media.

The seminar focusses on actual processes of criticism in print media,

Starting with the theoretical framework and a critical view on the framework of todays media there will be room for training of concrete text-editing and writing. Existing pieces will be analysed, evaluated along some common criteria and edited respectively. Furthermore we will develop our own editing criteria within the class as well as analysing existing and proven ones. On the other hand there will be room for the students own writing experience and the respective editing work needed along these pieces of text to make them ready for print. The best-in-class texts will have some granted possibility to be published in a weekly magazine.working with manuscripts (in groups); theoretical lessons; aim is the online publication of the 1945-1955 diaries (or parts of these)

Active participation in the class discussions; two papers have to be done during class: A review of an actual book from the german contemporary literature  (agreed on in the first session) and one essay.Attendance and participation; work assignments; small paper (ca. 5-10 p.)
