Studets should familiarize with different types of Romanticism in Spain (Christian Romanticism, Revolted Romanticism, Post-Romanticism) as well as with central authors and themes.

* depiction of the historical, political and social background of Spanish Romanticism

* discussion of the different phases of Romantic Literature in Spain

* presentation of important authors and figures and themes of Romantic Literature in Spain: pirates, Don Juanes, liberty, marginality, destination, passion.

Lecture and reading of several plays

Written or oral final exam

A bibliography will be distributed to participants at the beginning of the course
