Die Studierenden sind in der Lage, Prozesse und Praktiken der Kommunikation zu verstehen und vor dem Hintergrund von Theorien und Konzepten der Kommunikation zu analysieren und zu reflektieren. 

Die Vorlesung fokussiert auf Konzepte und Theorien der Kommunikation. Ausgehend vom klassischen "Sender-Receiver Modell der Kommunikation" wird eine komplexes Verständnis von Kommunikation als sozial Praxis entwickelt. Es wird zuächst die Pragmatik menschlicher Kommunikation (Watzlawick) diskutiert, die und die Einbettung des kommunikativen Handelns in ein soziokulturelle Lebenwelt (Habermas) erläutert. Darüber hinausgehend wird der diskutiert, wie  Kommunikation durch den Kontext beeinflusst wid (Goffman) und durch die Regeln der diskursiven Praxis geformt wird (Foucault). Unterschiedliche Konzepte des Dialogs werden schließlich als Verbindung zu Konflikt und Konflikthandhabung diskutiert.
