PS Advanced Text and/or Media Analysis Using Examples from Italian Language Regions

The students know and understand the phenomenon of "migration" Italian literature and evaluate the discursive complexity know in relation to concepts such as "culture", "Canon", "nation", "identity". They can also analyze the texts in question on the basis of theoretical and discussed in lesson and contextualize them within the framework of the dynamics of history of literature and culture of Italy and Europe.
Moving from the contextualization and historical-cultural-theoretical critic of so-called "Italian literature of migration", the course aims to highlight the specificities and discursive literary style by reading stories of, among others, Gabriella Ghermandi, Gabriella Kuruvilla, Amara Lakhous, Igiaba Scego, Ornela Vorpsi.

1. Oral report 2. A written essay on a specific topic (Proseminararbeit). It is also required to attend regular lectures, active participation in the discussions and reading essays and stories in preparation of individual sessions.

Those wishing to get a preliminary idea on the texts in question is a good overview on volume Anthology Writers in Italy (1990-2012), curated by Cecilia Gibellini, Verona, Fiorini, 2013. Further references will be given in class.

The course is accompanied by a form OLAT whereby the students are asked to register by the first week of the semester.
