Imparting of basic knowledge concerning the local history of the province of Vorarlberg; sensitization for questions regarding local as well as regional history

 

 

The lecture offers a survey of Vorarlberg´s history in the late Middle Ages and Early Modern Age, comprising the timeframe in between the acquisition of the barony/demesne “Neuburg” by Austria in 1363 and the revolution of 1848. Apart from chronologically considering the whole area of the present province of Vorarlberg (including former territories immediate to the empire) a special focus will be put on structural phenomena of economic, social and the history of mentalities.

Lecture and subsequent discussion; presentation of resource material

Written exam at end of semester.

Will be discussed in the first lesson.
