The course intends to:
· bringing students (and also supervisors) together
· introduce master students into a “conference atmosphere”,
· bridge between different fields of science, knowledge, and respective methods,
· stimulate vivid and critical discussions and the exchange of ideas, knowledge and understanding about all kinds of subjects related to climate change and consequences,
create a basis for inter- and transdisciplinary thinking in order to address pressing societal challenges.
The students will (1) attend three scientific seminars (1.5 hours each) with talks from international experts on climate change topics, (2) plan and organize a2-days “conference” and (3) give a presentation at this conference. Students will plan the logistics, act as “scientific committee, and they will have the possibility to discuss with international experts on climate change topics that will give talks in Innsbruck in context of the Cop21 event series beyond the seminars
- Bringing students (and also staff colleagues) together once a year where they can exchange ideas, get to know each other and each other’s field of research.
- Providing a “gate to the big outside world” by getting in contact with prominent international scientists.
- Providing students with the opportunity to train and improve their skills in presenting their results in a competitive environment.
Collecting experiences in organising a scientific workshop.

The Student Colloquium „Climate Change and Consequences“ addresses Master Students from all Faculties and will have the character of a mentored, self-organized Workshop. In addition, the students will participate in 3 seminars with international speakers which will be held in the frame of an event series at the University of Innsbruck in autumn/winter 2015/2016 in the context of the 21st Conference of Partners (COP21) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Paris 2015.
