Overview over the most important symptoms, causes, and different treatment approaches of individuals suffering from a obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Obsessive-compulsive disorders occur rather frequently. They are characterized by stereotype obsessional thoughts (e.g., endless consideration of alternatives) and acts (e.g., handwashing). They often are experienced as agonizing. In this seminar we will focus on diagnostic aspects, possible causes as well as on selected treatment approaches. This theoretical considerations will be completed by examples from clincial practice.

Group discussions and presentations in the plenary.

Continuous assessment based on regular oral and written contributions from the participants.
