Understanding of scientific and theoretical issues through reading and discussing selected classic and/or innovative texts of historiography, knowledge of research trends, critical evaluation of paradigms.

Intensive reading and analysis of selected “classical” texts of Walter Benjamin, Theodor W. Adorno and Max Horkheimer relevant for historians;

introduction to the Critical Theory/Frankfurt School.

 

Lecture, reading, discussion.

Permanent attendance, participation in discussions, oral presentation.

Selected texts will be provided in a reader at the beginning of the course.
