winter semester 2016/2017 | Last update: 30.01.2017 | Place course on memo listThe lecture provides in-depth knowledge and understanding of historical development in Brazil, the largest and most populated country in South America. Specific problems of the countries of the so-called Third World will be discussed based on the example of Brazil.
After a brief presentation of the structural conditions emerging during the colonial period and which should have an effect long time after, the lecture focusses on the political and socio-economic development after winning its independence in the 19th century.
