Ability to grasp the state of research and to develop suitable questions concerning a historical topic and its spatial manifestation in the cityscape as well as in the culture of remembrance
The course provides basic knowledge about selected aspects of the history of London 1500-1900. It focuses on the thematic and organisational preparation of the excursion (LV 645107) including the individual tasks of the participants.
Presentations by the course instructors; discussion of relevant literature; preparation of the presentations at the excursion; individual feedbacks
Participation in discussions; oral presentation; preparation of a handout and further material for the field trip
As a primer: Peter Ackroyd, London. The Biography, London 2000. Further literature will be announced at the beginning of the term.
