Mediation resp. consolidation of theoretical knowledge; knowledge about the history of global history, about the current theoretical and methodological discussions and the realizations in practice; encouragement and exercise regarding theoretical reflection of history and historical science.

Starting with the question what the basic meaning of theory is and what it means within the context of historical science, at the beginning various theoretical models respectively special aspects of historical contemplation and ways of mediation will be analyzed and compared, then in extenso the perspective of research "Global History".

Reading of essential texts, presentations of such texts in groups formed of the participants, group discussions.

Course with continuous performance assessment: attendance at all sessions, readings are to be prepared in advance for class discussion, short written assignments.

Literature will be announced at the various units of the lecture.

For students of the curriculum BA History (2009), a reduced workload applies.
