Students should be enabled to read a philosophical text in a philosophical way.

Contents:

We read Walter R. Sorley’s book: Moral Values and the Idea of God. It was first published in 1918 and originally delivered as the Gifford Lectures in the University of Aberdeen. We will deal with questions like: What are moral values? Do they exist? How could they depend on God?

Methods:

Reading, presenting, discussing.

Assessment:

Student presentation and seminar paper.
