The students have a systematic overview of teaching the classical languages. They know the curricula of the language acquisition phase and various fields of teaching classical languages to beginners. They are able to critically analyse and develop teaching material. They are enabled to plan teaching units based on theoretical knowledge of teaching languages. They are aware of heterogeneous classes and can use methods to differentiate diagnosis and support of students individually. They get insights to the didactic potential of various media and are able to apply these in practice.

Teaching objectives of teaching classical languages during language acquisition phase in view of respective curricula; significance of classical languages for learners who do not share German as a first language; overview of central areas (lexis, grammar, understanding texts, translation) and relevant topics (inclusion, differentiation, multilingualism, media); textbook analysis, planning teaching units, developing teaching material

Presentations, individual-, pair- and group work

Combination of homework/portfolio and final exam.
