The students can

• describe  theoretical principles of text linguistics,
• name and apply methods of text linguistics,
• independently analyze written forms of expression based on criteria of text linguistics (e.g. as to functions, style and text type conventions).

The course introduces the field of text linguistics and gives a summary of the objects and methods of the discipline (e.g. text-linguistic criteria, topic and function of texts, text types, structures and forms of written language, stylistics).

The discussed theoretical basis is applied and reflected by analyzing different written products in practice. By means of presentations and term papers the students deepen their knowledge concerning a selected focus of text linguistics. This focus will be determined during the course, depending on your interest.
