640108 Philological Work with Akkadian Texts II: The Akkadian Anzud-Myth
summer semester 2018 | Last update: 14.09.2023 | Place course on memo listBuilding on the basic knowledge, students enhance their language competence of Akkadian up to a level which enables them to work scientifically with texts in this language; in particular they will be in a position to recognise language-linguistic problems of Akkadian and to find solutions, to judge the texts critically regarding their content, to present the results in scientific form and to prepare themselves thoroughly with various media.
Reading and philologically analyzing selected passages from the poem about the mythical bird Anzud, who tried to reach dominion over the whole wolrd by stealing the "tablets of the destinies".
Preparing the transcription and translation of the Akkadian cuneiform texts and jointly discussing the contents.
Participation during the course and final exam at the end of the semester.

Due to substantial differences in the allocation of ECTS-Credits in various curricula (BA Classica et Orientalia 2009 and BA Classica et Orientalia 2015), the requirements for this course vary. Information will be provided by the instructor at the beginning of the course.
