By discussing various examples the class will introduce methodological approaches of diplomatics and digital diplomatics.

We will exercise the content and methodological approaches of the auxiliary sciences with focus on diplomatics and digital diplomatics using case studies. The focus is on medieval charters, which we will analyze and interpret according to questions of cultural history and history of mentalities.

Exercises, case studies, discussion, lecture

Contribution in class; home exercises, short written exam.

Will be discussed in the first lesson.
