Learning Outcome:

To heighten students' awareness of the lexical systems of English in everyday contexts and usage.

Contents:

Word formation: Word classes, plural and feminine forms, homophones, compounds, Greek/Latin borrowings, prefixes, borrowed words, word formation. Introduction to advanced lexis.

Methods:

A communicative, pragmatic approach to lexical usage by creating meaningful contexts in the classroom.

Assessment:

Written final exam + a mid-term exam
