On completion of this course students will be able to translate complex general interest texts at a high level of accuracy and professionalism. They will be able to rationalise, explain and justify choices made during the translation process.

The focus will be on transfer strategies, translation techniques, professional internet research, translator's choices and parallel literature, using different categories of texts and texts on a variety of subjects.

Preparing and analysing translations of source texts; discussing various translation choices .

2 written tests,  homework assignments, participation in class.

Handouts, translation assignments as well as further materials and bibliographical references will be provided in class.

Students must have successfully completed PM 15 -  all parts.

If the number of students is too high in one course (group a or b), students will be shifted to the other course (based on date and time of enrolment).
