Acquisition of knowledge on the different forms of historic display and the skills to present historic relations on site and to deconstruct display formats.

Demonstration on site (with the example of historic sites, museums, places of remembrance etc.) and advancing the knowledge; linking interdisciplinary ways of argumentation with actual examples.
In view of the many forms of commemoration and remembrance that mark the year 2018 (recalling 1848, 1918, 1938, 1968, etc.), the excursion will provide an overview of the current state of the politics of memory in Austria. We will visit and analyze the Haus der Geschichte Niederösterreich in St. Pölten and the Haus der Geschichte Österreich that is about to open in Vienna, the Dokumentationsarchiv des österreichischen Widerstands along with the Heldenplatz, the National Parliament and the Haus-, Hof- und Staatsarchiv, as well as, depending on accessibility, the Landhaus Niederösterreich and the Federal Chancellery.

Guided tour and/or lecture from the field trip leaders; provision of information material and oral presentations by the student; discussion on site.

Permanent participation, oral presentation with paper.
