Students shall be able to identify and evaluate different phenomena of organizational openness. They shall be able to clarify the relation of "openness" to related theoretical concepts. Furthermore, the students shall understand how "organizing openness" is embedded in philosophical understandings of "open society" more broadly.

Philosophical foundations of openness as an organizing principle. Different phenomena of openness including open innovation, open strategy, open government. Theoretical understanding of phenomena related to organizational openness such as organizational participation, inclusion, transparency, socio-materiality and democracy. 

Instructions, lectures, plenary and group discussions, reading assignments, student presentations.

Written research essay (approx. 2.000 words).

The Seminar is interlinked and closely connected to the Lecture Current Issues in Organization Studies: Open Organizations and Organizing Openness.
