Students learn about principles of human behavior and particularly how modern technologies influence and shape our behavior.

The course addresses how the digital revolution affects human behavior and how we cope with/fall prey to the challenges the digital world brings. Students will hear about behavioral biases and how new technologies can help us overcome them or use them to our advantage (e.g. mental accounting), and when we are in danger of falling prey to them (“gamification”). A special emphasis on the course will be on nudging.

The class is divided into two parts – the first four meetings (April 8, 10, 12 and 15) are input-oriented, where a mixture of lecture, hands-on experiments and experiences in class and discussions show students common biases and heuristics and how they are affected by them.

In the second part (April 29 and 30) are reserved for student presentations and discussions on the topics the students present.

50 %   Individual seminar presentation (April 29 or 30)

50%  Written final exam (May 2, 09.00-10.30)
