622010 VO Global History: The History of the Israeli-Arab Conflict as History of Emotions

This lecture course analyzes the history of the Middle-East conflict through the prism of History of Emotions. We will look closely at feelings like fear, hate and wish for revenge as active components and active forces in the history of this ethnic-religious conflict. Placing human emotions at the center of the discussion we will seek to understand better central events in the history of the State of Israel such as the war of 1948, the Six-Day War, the peace accords with Egypt and the first and second Intifada.

Literature will be discussed in class.
This lecture is also referred to as Global History I or II for students with Curricula BA of History (2009), i.e. a reduced workload will be applied in this case.
