The participants will:

- train their skills in searching and analysing international literature;

- structure a seminar topic according to content;

- present the seminar topic in class, including critical self-reflection;

- write a paper.

The core of this seminar is to work with basic human geographical questions. Those issues will be taken from current themes of human geography. The students will read and discuss up-to date literature, plan and write a seminar paper and present the most important findings in class.

This year the seminar will focus on economic geography as well as certain aspects of human-environmental relationships.

In the context of more recent findings on the limits of global resilience, new ways of thinking are - today more than ever - necessary to overcome the challenges. A central criterion here is that phenomena that were considered normal a relatively short time ago are no longer structuring today. The location decisions of companies as well as the increasing integration of regions into global (economic) processes and social innovations in the network age are only some of the factors that shape spaces in a new way and are therefore geographically relevant.
