Knowledge of philosophical and theological notions of the body.
In the Seminar we analyze the notion of 'body' ('Leib') and its role in philosophical and theological discussions. We read pivotal texts of the tradition like St. Paul (1 Cor 15) and Thomas Aquinas; moreover we discuss contemporary theological and philosophical conceptions of the body (Phenomenology, Hylomorphism, Ratzinger, Rahner). The following questions are raised: Is there a difference between 'Leib' and 'Körper'? What is a 'spiritual body' ('soma pneumatikon')? What is the relationship between the living and the resurrected body? Can we conceive of a survival of the death in a bodily form?
Essays, discussion of the texts.
Essays or seminar paper.
Will be announced in the seminar in the preparatory meeting (3rd March).
