Overview of the political and economic development and also of the historiy of the ideas of "Italy" from a geografical term to an established nation.

The focus of the course is on Italy in Early Modern Times as centre of Humanism and Renaissance; thereafter we will follow political, social and economic developments and also aspect of the history of ideas and of literature. We will see the development from the geografic term Italy composed of many singural territories to an united nation in the time of Imperialism and WW1.
