Students acquire the ability to deal with current empirical studies and to apply the first steps of a research process (formulation of a research issue, data collection, method reflection) autonomously in terms of quality and/or quantity or method.
At the beginning of the course, we will discuss the individual steps of empirical research and focus on challenges we may encounter when working empirically. After an introduction to methods for gathering and analysing data, we will discuss published articles from a methodological perspective. Then, we will apply some of these methods using the software STATA and MAXQDA.
