Curr. § 5 (1) 3: Students acquire the ability to deal with fundamentals of empirical studies. They understand to allocate the most important qualitative and quantitative survey methods to the respective scientific-theoretical and methodological background and chose the necessary methods for each research question. They are able to deal with current empirical studies and to apply the first steps of a research process (formulation of a research issue, data collection, method reflection) autonomously in terms of quality and/or quantity or method.  

quantitative and qualitative research methods:

- questionnaire design

- pretesting

- sampling

- constructing qualitative questionnaires

- coducting a qualitative interview

- interview transcription

- short presentations

- practical excercises

- discussion and critical reflexion

 

Assesment criteria: 

construction of a quantitative questionnaire (max. 20 points), pretest incl. pretest-protocol (max. 25 points), construction of a qualitative questionnaire (max. 20 points), conducting and transcription of a qualitative interview (25 points), participation in discussions (10 points)

Grading:

55% – 65% = 4 ("genügend"); 66% – 78% = 3 ("befriedigend"); 79% – 89% = 2 ("gut"); 90% – 100% = 1 ("sehr gut")
