winter semester 2020/2021 | Last update: 02.12.2020 | Place course on memo listDevelopment of a sound knowledge of changed public communication and discourse cultures, social media interactions, forms of communication and (dis)information processes as a consequence of digitization.
As a result of digitalization specific forms of decision-making and steering activities on the (inter)national level in the fields of media, public opinion and comunication will be analyzed. Especially on the European level decision-makers are pushing new developments towards the realisation of a ´Digital European Single Market´ with respective direct consequences for the single European citizen. A focus lies on these European developments and the two poles of Public Value / diversity & plurality of opinions and the economic interest of new platforms (channels / companies) in the field of Social Media. What are the processes and the consequences of those changes on the individual and public opinion making processes?
