645100 UE Philosophy of Science "Anything goes"
winter semester 2020/2021 | Last update: 03.09.2020 | Place course on memo listAcquisition of knowledge for the evaluation of theoretical positions in the science of history under consideration of work-biographical contexts
The exercise is dedicated to the life and work of the important historian Reinhart Koselleck (1923-2006), who last taught in Bielefeld. From his sensational dissertation "CKritik und Krise" in 1959 to his studies on the culture of remembrance in the 2000s, Koselleck initiated numerous academic and political-public discussions which received international attention far beyond Germany. Koselleck's recently edited correspondence with Carl Schmitt also sheds light on his biographical background.
In addition to Koselleck's biography, the exercise will be devoted above all to selected writings and will ask about the changing historiographical positions he took and how he introduced theoretical drafts into the science of history.
Reading and discussion of theoretical literature and empirical studies; group work; presentations
Regular and active participation; a short presentation and an essay
