Given the focus of this module on economic and management aspects of sustainability, it deals particularly (but not exclusively) with decision-making problems embedded in contexts of sustainable economic growth (SDG 8), innovation in sustainable infrastructure (SDG 9) and the development of sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11). VU 1 follows a combination of lecture-based teaching style and hands-on behavioral experiments and simulation games. Thus, the features of sustainability related challenges for decision-making are first explained theoretically. Then they are showcased and trained in different decision-making and simulation games. This provides both, a sound theoretical understanding and a hands-on experience with respect to the intricacies involved in achieving the SDGs.
