winter semester 2021/2022 | Last update: 24.01.2022 | Place course on memo listThe lecture conveys the different anthropological approaches and ideas about the image of human in the history of Islamic ideas and their viability for the founding of norms in today's pluralistic society.
The lecture will be introduced with a discussion of the question of the classification of Islamic anthropology as a discipline that deals with the same questions as philosophical anthropology, but from a theological perspective. Afterwards an overview of the most important anthropologically significant statements of the Qur'an on the creation of human and his nature, on his position in the cosmos and in society, to his dignity and his rights as a person is procured. Subsequently, some anthropological reflections of Muslim theologians, philosophers and mystics on these topics in the past and present are presented and discussed.
