winter semester 2021/2022 | Last update: 10.01.2022 | Place course on memo list
At the end of the course the students should be able to understand the emergence of the individual disciplines of Islamic theology, their questions, basic concepts and their position in the overall context of theology as well as to distinguish between their specific tasks.
In this lecture an overview of the emergence context of Islam and its theology as well as the basics, structure and content of the subject will be given on the basis of selected topics. This means that the various Islamic-theological disciplines should be presented in terms of treatment and discussion on the beliefs, rituals, commandments and prohibitions, so that students have an overview of Islamic theology and its sub-disciplines. The inner and outer dimensions of Islamic theology should also be the subject of the lecture. In particular, the relationship of jurisprudence (fiqh), rational-discursive theology (kalâm), ethics (akhlâq) and Islamic mysticism (tasawwuf) should be presented, including the other Islamic disciplines of science.
