628037 VO Questions of Faith in the Present
winter semester 2021/2022 | Last update: 27.01.2022 | Place course on memo listIn the lecture, the students should understand the current fundamental questions of theology in the current context of intellectual history and look at them in a more differentiated way.
The question of faith and of God are central questions which human has answered differently in the context of his humanity throughout history. In this course, these questions are treated from an Islamic-theological perspective. The relationship between faith, tradition and reason should be worked up in terms of the history of ideas and serve as a foil to answer contemporary questions of faith. Under the conditions of an increasingly secular and plural context, the following aspects will be addressed in the event:
• Faith and reason: a contradiction?
• Faith and Science: Do we even need religion for the explanation of the world?
• Quantum physics and religion
• Relationship mysticism and rationalism
• Enlightenment debate in the context of Islam
• Faith and freedom in the context of brain research and the concept of person
• Believe in a plural world: tolerance postulate and religious pluralism
• Interreligious dialogue: a question of faith?
• Faith and the question of the potential for violence of religion
• Belief in God, creation and genetic engineering
• Contemporary Migration Movements in the Theological Context
