In this lecture, students are taught approaches towards solving the specific challenges of scheduling cloud applications and the management of cloud resources. The main focus lies on optimization techniques for the schedule and the set of provisioned resources. The lecture is complemented by exercises in which students apply the concepts taught in the lecture in practice using modern optimization frameworks.

Optimization Techniques for scheduling and resource management (biologically-inspired approaches, lightweight heurisitics, agent systems), techniques to cope with application- and resource uncertainties (mathematical models, load-balancing techniques, learning and prediction approaches)
