The rapid development of digital technologies over the past three decades has seriously changed our daily lives. Technologies such as smartphones, smartwatches, training apps, online shopping, online dating, voice assistants, twitter, facebook, instagram, data glasses, online streaming platforms and self-driving cars and much more have become part of our everyday life. But how do these technologies influence our brain, our thinking, our emotions, our well-being and our behavior? What principles and concepts of cognitive neuroscience are these technologies based on?
The aim of this course is to get to the bottom of the positive and negative consequences that the constant use of technology has on the functioning of the brain and our behavior. The seminar presents a foray into key questions of human existence at the interface between technology and neuroscience.
